When Ascot came to Bryn Meadows…

On Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th June 2016, Ascot races were brought to Bryn Meadows with over 200 people attending across the two days.

All guests glammed up for the occasion and were greeted to a Pimms Reception, before entering the Barn Suite decorated for the day. Guests enjoyed a 2 course lunch including the summer favourite strawberries and cream before gearing up for the first race of the day.

Stakes were made on each race with the administration led by Pontllanfraith Rotary. Unlike the totes and the bookies, you did have to play to win. All of the races were shown on the big screens dotted around the room; with many people cheering (often very enthusiastically!) their horse over the finishing line.

After the excitement all were served afternoon tea and were able to enjoy the sunshine on the patio terrace, watching the golfers tee off the tenth. There were even some prizes for the best dressed and the best hat too.
