The local group, based in Pentwynmawr to host an annual arts and crafts exhibition for two days between Wednesday 2nd November and Thursday 3rd November for the second year, with an official opening from Steffan Lewis AM.
South East Wales AM Steffan Lewis will officially open the event starting at 12 noon on Wednesday 2nd November. Original paintings, drawings, jewellery, textiles, photographs and other expressive pieces will be on display with the opportunity for members of the public and guests to purchase the work – ideal for those looking for unique gifts, especially with the festive season approaching.
The Blackwood Community Art Group began as a small group who met informally each week. Eleven years ago it formed into a voluntary organisation and slowly started to increase the membership. Members meet on a weekly basis in Pentwynmawr Community Centre and use a wide variety of mediums and techniques. Alongside this the group regularly organise visits to art galleries and exhibitions, as well as workshops and demonstrations. New members are welcome, and further information on the group can be found here.
Last year’s event was also held at Bryn Meadows Golf Hotel & Spa and the team were delighted when they said they wished to return;
“I was thrilled that the Blackwood Community Art Group wanted to hold their arts and crafts exhibition and fair at Bryn Meadows again this year. Growing up in Blackwood, I am keen to support local community groups, where possible, in the area. Myself and the team are looking forward to seeing the different works that have been produced.” Gavyn Bolton, General Manager at Bryn Meadows Golf Hotel & Spa.
The event is free to attend, and is being held in the Barn Suite at Bryn Meadows on Wednesday 2nd November between 10am and 8pm and on Thursday 3rd November between 10am and 5pm.
