Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10k
19 Jun

Earlier this year we were delighted to announce that we were the title sponsor of the annual Caerphilly 10k, which was on Sunday 18th June 2017.  The weather was absolutely fantastic but made for unbelievably difficult conditions for all runners, with the temperature reaching 28 degrees at 10.30am!  Local residents along the running route turned on their hosepipes to help cool the runners down - which they were all very grateful for.

The event was a huge success with the organisers of the event, Caerphilly County Borough Council and Visit Caerphilly, saying that just under 2,800 participants took part surpassing 2016 which saw a record breaking 2,300 runners who all have pass local landmarks including the Tommy Cooper statue and Caerphilly Castle on the route.

This year there was also a 2k course for younger runners, aged 8 and over.  Fusion Spa & Leisure Personal Trainers, Andrew and Abi, led the warm up.  A total of 654 children ran the course, with the quickest time of an incredible 6.12 minutes!

Alongside the Fusion Spa & Wellness team, our members were invited to take part.  Helping them get ready for the race, the team encouraged them to take part in the monthly challenge including 'Hang Tough' designed to increase core strength in April, and during May was the 800m Run challenge with the fastest person winning a Rasul Mud Room Ceremony.

Monthly the team also host a one day Bootcamp! Experience which is perfect for boosting, kick starting or increasing fitness levels which is £10 for members and £15 for non members.  This also includes real fruit smoothies.

The Golf Team were also in the children's area in the shadow of Caerphilly Castle.  Our Professional Golfers David and Katy were able to show youngsters some of the basics including how to hold a club.  With the nets up, they were also able to put some strength behind it and give the ball a good whack.

Both David and Katy are gearing up for our Junior Golf Summer Camps which are a fantastic way to keep your young golfers occupied during the summer holidays. They will learn new skills and enhance existing skill levels in a safe, fun environment. Plus as well as being outdoors on the First Swing Golf Academy they can even try the brand new state of the art golf simulator and putting studio.
